Mingmar Tamang
Climbing Guide · Solukhumbu Native • Igloo Himalaya Treks Nepal
"Sharing Nepal’s mountains with people from around the world is one of the things I enjoy most about being a guide."
Mingmar Tamang is a licensed high-altitude climbing guide at Igloo Himalaya Treks, born and raised in the heartland of Himalayan mountaineering—the scenic district of Solukhumbu, Nepal. Having completed his Higher Secondary Education (Plus Two / +2), Mingmar pairs academic diligence and clear communication with high-altitude endurance and mountain instinct.
Mingmar’s mountaineering career began over eight years ago at the grassroots level of expedition climbing. He started as a hardworking mountain porter, carrying heavy expedition gear, climbing equipment, and supplies across treacherous glacial terrain and high-altitude passes. This hands-on foundation instilled in him deep resilience, technical respect for unpredictable alpine weather, and profound empathy for the clients and field crew he now leads.
Over eight years of intensive climbing in the Everest region, Mingmar earned his official Climbing Guide Licence from the Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA). He has guided and summited the Everest region’s most renowned 6,000-meter peaks, specializing in Lobuche East Peak (6,119m), Island Peak / Imja Tse (6,189m), and Mera Peak (6,476m).
Known for his kind personality, calm encouragement, and meticulous attention to client safety, Mingmar ensures clean, top-tier climbing equipment, seamless lodge accommodations, and step-by-step guidance on fixed ropes, crampons, and ice axes. Fluent in English and Nepali, he makes every climber feel confident and supported from base camp to the summit ridge.
Sharing Nepal’s mountains with people from around the world is one of the things I enjoy most about being a guide. Standing with a client on a 6,000-meter summit under clear Himalayan skies, watching their hard work turn into triumph—that is why I love this work.
